The Golf Season is in Full Swing
The Statesmen Golf regular season started on Monday with golfers traveling to Hidden Creek Golf Course for their first invitational tournament of the year. The team had a great showing finishing ninth out of twenty-seven teams. They then had their first district match against Washington-Liber
ty winning by two strokes. Finally, in their second invitational of the week at Laurel Hill Golf Course they placed sixth out of sixteen teams.
The Golf team's next action will be Thursday, August 18th against McLean at Hidden Creek Golf Course.
The Preseason Continues
This week Statesmen Athletics was in full preseason mode with Dance, Cheer, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football, and Volleyball continuing to prepare for their regular seasons. Football had their first competitive experience as they took on W.T. Woodson and Edison in a scrimmage on Thursday Night. The Statesmen faired well and look forward to their second scrimmage against Centreville on Thursday August 18th at 6pm at Jimmie Miller Stadium. This week Field Hockey was schedule to host their first scrimmage against Thomas Jefferson which was unfortunately canceled due to weather. The team will travel down Rt. 7 to Meridian High School to take on the Mustangs for a scrimmage on Monday August 15th and will make up the Jefferson scrimmage at home on Tuesday August 16th. Volleyball will host scrimmages on Monday August 15th against Meridian and Friday August 19th against Battlefield. Both scrimmages are at home.
